Two weeks ago, Webuquerque — along with our sister NMAUG organization Animotion NM — hosted Podcasting & Vodcasting 101, presented by local audio/video producer Vincent Ascoli.
We had a lovely turnout of over 35 people joining us at our new (to us) venue, the UNM ARTS Lab.
Weren't able to join us? We've got you covered with a recap, the slide deck, video and photos!
Webuquerque Survey
But before I dive into all that, let me first ask you to take a few minutes to complete Webuquerque's first user survey, Help Us Help You.
I know I sound like a broken record, but Webuquerque is about community (that means you). And we want to make sure we are delivering what the community (you) wants. So, let us know what you think!
All respondents will be eligible to win one of five $10 Amazon gift cards we are giving away as a thank you for taking the time to complete the survey.
Don't wait! The survey closes tomorrow, on September 18, 2009. Gift card winners will be notified the week of September 23.
Now, back to regularly scheduled programming …
Recap
Vince kicked off the presentation with a thorough discussion of his background in the field, including his work with Lawcast, University of New Mexico and Apple.
He then dove into the details of podcasting and vodcasting, including:
- Conception
- Production

- Distribution
- Best practices
- Tools of the trade
Software Giveaway
Also at this month's event, we gave away two copies of Camtasia Studio screen recorder software (one Mac license, and one PC) thanks to our new sponsor TechSmith.

Coming in October
Our next presentation is Introduction to Microformats on Wednesday, October 7, 2009, beginning at 6:30pm at Uptown Sports Bar and Grill.
In this presentation, you will learn the basics you need to start publishing microformats on your own web site. Local microformats expert and Webuquerque co-manager, Emily Lewis, will discuss the history and basic premise of microformats, and will show examples of common microformats. She will also demonstrate some of the tools available that leverage microformats for machine data.
