Webuquerque

Webuquerque's recently hosted The Battle of Development Frameworks & Libraries, presented by local developer Mark Casias. We had a nice turnout of about 20 people. If you weren't able to join us, we have everything you need to feel like you were (almost) there.

Recap

Mark surveyed some of today's most popular development tools, discussing the pros and cons of each. He also encouraged audience participation, getting opinions and feedback from attendees regarding their favorite tools.

Highlights included Mark's comparison of JavaScript libraries, including:

As well as frameworks such as:

And some of today's popular CMSes:

Coming in September

Our next presentation is Podcasting & Vodcasting 101 on Wednesday, September 2, 2009, beginning at 7:00pm at UNM ARTS Lab.

For this event, we are joining forces with our sister NMAUG organization, Animotion. As such, we are changing venues and starting the presentation 30 minutes later than our usual meeting time.

Other than those minor changes, you can expect another great presentation! Local audio/video producer Vince Ascoli will examine the full cycle of podcasting and vodcasting:

  1. Conception
  2. Production
  3. Encoding
  4. Distribution

Vincent will also demonstrate several examples of pod- and vodcasts, what people are doing with them and how they can be made to work for you and your clients.

The Coolest Person I Know

Emily Lewis

Yeah, that would be me: .

I'm a freelance web designer of the standardista variety, which means I get excited about things like valid POSH, microformats and accessibility. I ply my trade from my one-person design studio in Albuquerque, New Mexico 87106 USA.

A Blog Not Limited is my personal blog where I pontificate about web design, web standards, semantics and whatever else strikes my fancy. Head on over to Emily Lewis Design if you'd like to see my work or, even better, hire me.
