A new episode of The ExpressionEngine Podcast is now live and available for your listening pleasure!
Episode #54 picks up from our conversation about multi-lingual sites in episode #49. This time around, we focus more on double-byte character sets and nuances with Asian-language sites.
Episode #54
In Multi-Language Sites: Part Deux, Lea and I talked with EE developer Nicolas Bottari, who spent the past 8 years in Japan before recently returning to his Canadian homeland. Nicolas has extensive experience working on multi-lingual sites, particularly sites using double-byte characters.
Nicolas detailed a bit of his planning process for these types of sites, and offered a very clever approach to custom fields for conditionally showing translated content to particular content authors. He also discussed some of his challenges when upgrading a version 1 multi-language site to EE v2.
Nicholas also recommended several add-ons that he uses to make his life easier when working with mult-lingual sites, including his own Zenbu entry list manager.
Have a listen yourself.
