Vote Now! Agencies of One: How Solo Creatives Work

SXSW Panel Picker 2012

It's that time of year again. Time for SXSW panel picking. And I want your vote!

My friend and fellow freelance web developer, Brian Artka, has organized a fantastic panel about "solo creatives" (AKA, freelancers): Agencies of One: How Solo Creatives Work.

If you hadn't guessed, I'll be one of the solo creatives on the panel. And I'll joined by some truly talented and successful folks: Whitney Hess, Andy Stratton and Mike Rohde.

And each of us brings a different perspective to the table. Not only do we each do slightly different types of work, some of us (like me) are new to freelancing, while others are veterans. Additionally, we all come from entirely different parts of the country. Some of us are in small markets, while others work and live in major metropolitan areas.

If we get accepted, we'll talk about how we solo creatives get by in our crazy industry in this crazy economy. We'll talk about the struggles, the successes and, most importantly, why we choose this way of working.

Please vote!

I think freelancers make a unique contribution to the ecosystem of the web.

I will delete off-topic, inflammatory or anonymous comments. And, as much as I like compliments, if your comment is something along the lines of "great post, I'll pass it along," I'm gonna assume it is spam (especially if you don't provide a "real" name) and will delete it. So, add something useful to the conversation or don't comment at all.

If you don't like the picture I chose for your comment, quit whining and get a Gravatar account.

Yeah, that would be me: .
