My latest pastry came out of the oven just a few days ago and is ready for your reading pleasure!
My February Pastry
For my February contribution, I discuss how sick and tired I am of reading articles and tweets from folks whining about how hard it is to do something. What specifically draws my ire lately are those bitch sessions about semantic markup and HTML5.
Yes, writing semantic markup isn't easy. That doesn't mean it's a waste of time or isn't worthwhile. Same is true of the new semantics in HTML5, especially if you are just getting started. It takes time to grok the semantics. It takes practice to know which elements are best for different types of content.
Time and practice. Not bitching and whining. Get over yourself and just start learning!
While I take a decidedly more diplomatic tone in my pastry for February, I discuss my frustration with this “myopia,” and emphasize the importance of embracing your learning curve and becoming a craftsman with your work.
